Douglas J. Ripkin, M.D.
Dr. Ripkin is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University. He completed his undergraduate Ophthalmology training at St. Luke’s Hospital of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed post graduate fellowships in Glaucoma and Cataract Surgery at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco and a Surgical and Research Glaucoma fellowship at the Mount Sinai Medical School in New York City. He has been an investigator in multiple clinical research trials in glaucoma pharmacology and in surgical treatment of glaucoma. Dr. Ripkin has published textbooks, book chapters and articles in his area of expertise. He specializes in the surgical and medical management of Glaucoma and Cataracts. Dr. Ripkin has had postgraduate training in cosmetic aesthetic enhancement of the face.
Dr. Ripkin has been included in Best Doctors in America since 1997 and the past 12 years named in Cleveland Magazine’s Top Docs issue. He also is a Top Doc in Akron Life and Leisure.
Todd L. Beyer, D.O.
Dr .Beyer is an in office consultent at Ripkin Vision and Laser. He is considered one of the Top Ophthalmologists in the United States and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He now specializes in LASIK and Refractive surgery, Oculofacial-plastic surgery and advanced cataract/lens implant surgery.
Dr. Beyer is certified as an operator of the Yag Laser, Excimer laser, Argon laser, CO2 laser and the Erbium Yag laser, as well as being certified to perform Interlase LASIK flaps.
Dr. Beyer completed his residency in ophthalmology at St. Louis University in 1984, where he served as Chief Resident. He also provided treatment of advanced corneal disease, performed corneal transplants and eyelid reconstruction in Lima, Peru as a part of the foreign exchange program at St. Louis University.
Dr. Beyer had lectured both nationally and internationally on refractive surgery and oculofacial- plastic surgery. He began performing refractive surgery in 1985. Dr. Beyer served as co-investigator for the FDA trial that eventually led to the approval of the current Visx laser now used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. He also performed LASIK surgery in China, where he was invited to train local ophthalmologists in cataract and refractive surgical techniques.
Dr. Beyer served as Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Ophthalmology at the University of Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. He has also held appointments as Clinical Faculty Assistant in Oculo-plastics at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cleveland. His last academic appointment was that of Clinical Assistant Professor at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM). He now devotes his entire professional efforts here at Novus Clinic and serves as President.
Donald C. Stephens, M.D.
Dr Stephens is an in office Retinal Consultent at Ripkin Vision and Laser
Dr. Stephens, a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, received his undergraduate degree from Kent State University and his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati. He completed a four-year residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Stephens also is fellowship trained in the treatment of retina and ocular trauma diseases.
Having traveled extensively throughout the Dominican Republic, Dr. Stephens is President and founder of Vision Quest, a non-profit group that provides free eye care to the underserved in that region. Dr. Stephens is fluent in several languages including Spanish and Italian and has helped chair many public newest FDS approved advancements in the treatment of macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.
Robin E. Parnell, O.D.
Dr. Parnell received her undergraduate degree from Ohio University, and her optometric degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry. She graduated from optometry school Cum Laude and is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, an optometric honor society. Dr. Parnell is active in both the American Optometric Association and the Ohio Optometric Association. She has expertise and interest in fitting contact lenses, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease. She has a special interest in the treatment of low vision patients.
